ELMHURST, IL -

Two caught drag racing

Daniel Hendrych, 19, of Harwood was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. June 14 at County Line and Lake roads. Hendrych was charged with drag racing, having a car without a front license plate, driving in the wrong lane, no windshield wipers, screeching tires, parking on the roadway, no insurance, failure to signal when required and having an obstructed view, police said. Hendrych was released via I-bond. Anthony Holtz, 22, of Lombard was cited for drag racing, parking in the roadway, excessive noise and expired registration and was released via I-bond, police said.

Endangering child alleged

Steven N. Thomas, 40, of Schiller Park was arrested at about 5:30 p.m. June 15 for endangering the life of a child and obstructing/resisting a peace officer and was released on a $100 bond, police said. Thomas also was charged with battery and was released on that charge via I-bond, police said.

Drug charges filed

Michael Deyoung, 20, of Elk Grove Village was charged at about 8:30 p.m. June 16 at Fair and Park avenues and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, illegal possession of a hypodermic needle and being in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. Megan Lucarz, 19, of Elk Grove Village was arrested at the same time and location and was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and being in possession of a hypodermic needle, police said.

Disorderly conduct charged

Isidro Martinez, 33, of Elmhurst was arrested at about 11:45 p.m. June 15 at 980 Virginia Ave. Martinez, a registered sex offender, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and released via I-bond, police said. Teresa Klein, 17, of Elmhurst, was cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor during the same incident, police said.

Lombard

Fire considered arson

 Employees at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown Shopping Center, reported a small fire in a dressing room at about 6:30 p.m. June 11, police said.

An employee extinguished the fire using a fire extinguisher before the Lombard Fire Department arrived. The damage is estimated at $3,000 and includes the clothing set on fire, according to Battalion Chief Chuck Ralis.

Ralis said the fire is under investigation, and the Fire and Police departments will review security camera videos from inside the store.

Battery count charged

• Erin Phipps, 30, of Lombard was charged with domestic battery at about 3:45 a.m. June 10 in the 300 block of South Stewart Avenue, police said.
• Mark Matune, 37, of Lombard was charged with domestic battery at about 11:30 p.m. June 10 in the 600 block of East North Broadway Street, police said.
• Len Burris, 34, of Lombard was charged with battery at about 7:45 a.m. June 13 in the 1300 block of South Lane, police said.

DUI charges filed

• Mark Zatarski, 32, of Lombard was charged with drunken driving at about 1:15 a.m. June 12 at Grace and Madison streets, police said.

• Mark Burns, 20, of Villa Park was charged with drunken driving and underaged drinking at about 2:15 a.m. June 12 at Madison Meadow Park, police said.

• Jeffrey Linde, 60, of Glen Ellyn was charged with drunken driving at about 1:30 a.m. June 15 at Roosevelt Road and Stewart Avenue, police said.

• Lida Butler, 50, of Lombard was charged with drunken driving at about 7:30 p.m. June 15 at Westmore Avenue and Maple Street, police said.

• Christopher Majczan, 32, of Lombard was charged with drunken driving at about 5 p.m. June 16 at Roosevelt Road and Highland Avenue, police said.

Items reported stolen

A bicycle was reported stolen at about 10:30 p.m. June 10 from a driveway in the first block of Orchard Terrace, police said.

Drug charges filed

• Jesus Herrera, 25, of Hillside was charged with possession of marijuana at about 7:15 p.m. June 6 in the 400 block of West Division Street, police said.

• Carlos Garcia, 19, of Aurora was charged with possession of cocaine at about 7:15 p.m. June 6 in the 400 block of West Division Street, police said.

• Eric Zermuehlen, 42, of Villa Park was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at about 7:30 p.m. June 7 at Addison Avenue and Holly Court, police said.

• Lisa Struc, 26, of Addison was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 12:15 a.m. June 7 at North and Michigan avenues, police said.

• Lionel Burks, 19, of Bensenville was charged with possession of marijuana at about 9:45 p.m. June 14 at North Avenue and Addison Road, police said.

DUI charge filed

Bernardo Hernandez, 55, of Glen Ellyn was charged with drunken driving at about 2 a.m. June 7 at North and Michigan avenues, police said.

Items reported stolen

• About $3,500 worth of jewelry was reported stolen at about 11:30 p.m. June 14 from a home in the 600 block of North Iowa Avenue, police said.

Retail theft charged

Blanca Javier, 26, of Bensenville; Maricruz Leyva, 27, of Wood Dale; and Janet Hernandez, 26, of Wood Dale were charged with retail theft at about 5 p.m. June 10 at Target, 50 E. North Ave., police said.
