Bellwood man arrested

Elmhurst police said they arrested a Bellwood man for driving under the influence at about 1 p.m. May 23.

Police said they discovered Curtis Fitts, 26, was driving under the influence at Lake and Oaklawn streets. Fitts also was wanted on a failure to appear warrant out of Hoffman Estates and was driving with a revoked license.

Police said Fitts was charged with aggravated driving with a revoked license, aggravated DUI, driving without insurance and improper lane usage and was transported to DuPage County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000, police said.

Obstruction charge filed

Elmhurst police said they arrested Javier Trujillo, 27, of Elkhart, Ind., at about 6 p.m. May 23.

Police said they were on routine patrol when they noticed Trujillo running alongside a motorcycle while pushing it, causing a major traffic interference.

Police said Trujillo had a failure to appear warrant out of Villa Park for not having a valid driver’s license. Police said they arrested Trujillo on the warrant, and he was charged with one count of attempted obstruction of justice. Police said he was released on a $1,000 bond for the obstruction charge and $300 for the FTA warrant.

Drug charges filed

Elmhurst police said they arrested Jordan M. Mizelle, 24, of the 1000 block of South Westmore, Lombard, on drug charges at about 11:45 a.m. May 24.

Police said they stopped Mizelle for improper lane usage and discovered a smoking pipe suspected to contain marijuana residue located in the vehicle. Police said they also found a plastic bag containing what they suspect to be marijuana in the vehicle.

Police said Mizelle was taken into custody, and his car was towed. Police said Mizelle was charged with improper lane usage, failure to signal, operating an uninsured vehicle, possession of marijuana and possession of drugs and was released via I-Bond.

Smoke bomb nets arrest

Elmhurst police said they arrested a 15-year-old boy for throwing a smoke bomb into an Elmhurst man’s home at about 9 p.m. May 24.

Police said the man reported that six unknown juveniles opened his front door and threw a smoke bomb inside. Police said the man said he checked the area for about 20 minutes before calling the police.

Police said they later apprehended three suspects and eventually charged the 15-year-old with disorderly conduct.

Teens disrupt parade

Elmhurst police said a 15-year-old boy and his friends repeatedly cursed and damaged city property during Monday’s Memorial Day parade.

Police said they were informed by several people that some teens were using vulgar language and profanity during the parade. Police said one woman reported that when she acknowledged their behavior, they called her a curse word.

Police said one of the teens repeatedly broke off branches of a city-owned tree and was charged with damage to city property.

All four of the juveniles were released to their parents during the parade, police said.

Lombard

Seatbelt check conducted

A car with two adults and two juveniles left the area of a seatbelt checkpoint at about 2:15 p.m. May 26, police said.

When the car was pulled over, Brittany Grenda, 23, of Hanover Park was charged with possession of marijuana and reckless driving, police said. Jory Hollis, 24 of Maywood was charged with possession of marijuana, police said.

The two juveniles in the car were charged with possession of tobacco by a minor, police said.

Battery count filed

John Klinger, 43, of Lombard was charged with battery at about 10 p.m. at Main Street and St. Charles Road May 26, police said.

DUI charges filed

• James Logan, 23, of Chicago was charged with drunken driving at about midnight May 19 in the 800 block of Foxworth Boulevard , police said.
n Robert Taylor, 42, of Lombard was charged with drunken driving at about 3 a.m. May 23 at Main Street and Roosevelt Road, police said.

Retail theft charged

• Kathryn When and Yolanda Frederick, both 17 and of Lemont, were charged with retail theft at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown Shopping Center, at about 3:15 p.m. May 21, police said.

• Alvaro Flores, 42, of Cicero was charged with retail theft at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown Shopping Center, at about 2:30 p.m. May 27, police said.

Villa Park

Drug, alcohol charges filed

A student at Willowbrook High School, 1250 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, alerted the dean of students about a student smoking marijuana in her car at about 8:15 a.m. May 16, police said.

The dean of students and director of deans went over to the car and found Jessica Wells, 18, of Lombard, in possession of marijuana and six cans of beer, police said.

Wells was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol by a minor, police said.

Battery count filed

• Alexandria Klimacek, 18, of Addison was charged with domestic battery at about 5:30 a.m. May 16 in the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue, police said.

• Shawn Niyork, 21, of Villa Park was charged with battery at about 10:30 p.m. May 16 in the 700 block of West North Avenue, police said.

• Candy Guth, 46, of Lombard was charged with battery at about 4:15 p.m. May 21 in the 700 block of North Cornell Avenue, police said.

Drug charges filed

Joseph Banks, 31, of Lombard was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at about 3 p.m. May 21 at St. Charles Road and Euclid Avenue, police said.

DUI charges filed

Jose Gutierrez, 23, of Lombard was charged with drunken driving at about 1 a.m. May 21 at Ardmore Avenue and Roosevelt Road, police said.

Items reported stolen

• A golf cart was reported stolen at about 9:30 a.m. May 7 from Sugar Creek Golf Course, 500 E. Van Buren St., police said.

• About $1,400 worth of items were reported stolen at about 4 p.m. May 16 from a home in the 400 block of North Westmore Avenue, police said.

• About $15 worth of gas was reported stolen at about 4:30 p.m. May 16 from Phillips 66, 1 E. St. Charles Road, police said.

Retail theft charged

Saul Gaspar, 18, of Chicago was charged with retail theft at about 5 p.m. May 7 at Target, 50 E. North Ave., police said.
