Man videotapes school

Elmhurst police said they received a report from the Hawthorne Elementary School principal of a man allegedly videotaping the school’s playground at about 8:15 a.m. May 2.

Police said the principal stated that a teacher notified him of four fifth-grade boys reporting that a white man was videotaping the playground area on the east side of the school while it was full of children earlier in the morning.

Police said after the school sent out an e-mail about the incident, a woman called them to report that she had observed a man matching the description listed in the e-mail videotaping the area. The woman reported that she was did not find the man to be suspicious and thought he was waiting for his child.

Nearly $2,000 stolen

Elmhurst police said a man reported that someone broke into his home on the 600 block of Edgewood and stole $1,800 in cash between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. May 2.

Police said the entry was made through the back door, where a glass plane had been broken. Police said the man kept the stolen money in a metal lockbox under his bed in an upstairs bedroom and had last seen the money the previous day.

Burglars leave surprise

Elmhurst police said that someone broke into Bryan Middle School, 111 W. Butterfield Road, between Friday and Sunday.

Police said they were dispatched the school after receiving a call about a burglary.

Police said the burglar entered the school through West Door No. 6 by previously placing a piece of white masking tape on the door latch.

Police said several lockers were damaged and feces were found behind the food service line in the cafeteria.

Lombard

Police halt drinking parties

• A call to the police for loud music at a home resulted in 10 juveniles being charged with alcohol-related charges at about 10 p.m. May 2 on the 300 block of South Lombard Avenue. Police said they found a juvenile vomiting outside when they arrived and chose to enter the home.

Jill Heinlein, 46, of Lombard, was charged at her home with unlawful possession of alcohol provided by an adult, according to reports. Eight juveniles were charged with underage consumption of alcohol, and two juveniles were charged with possession of alcohol. Tony Green, 17, of Lombard was charged with unlawful consumption, providing alcohol to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a child, police said.

• Police found a party at the Westin Hotel, 70 Yorktown Shopping Center, full of underage drinkers at about 12:15 a.m. May 3.

Morgan Short, 17, of Elmhurst; Brandon Etheridge, 17, of Elmhurst; Lukus Hendrix, 19, of Plainfield; Stephanie Vitagliano, 18, of Elmhurst; Rhonda Russell, 18, of Elmhurst; Alyssa Hartney, 18, of Elmhurst; and Justin Kurlowski, 18, of Addison were cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor, and were released at the scene, police said.

Jeremy Masangecay, 18, of Elmhurst; Corey Middleton, 18, of Elmhurst; Ciara Ferranco, 17, of Elmhurst; and Maria Morales, 18, of Elmhurst were charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor. Masangecay and Middleton were released on cash bonds, and Ferranco and Morales were released on I-bonds, according to police.

Drug charges filed

Ginger Jacob, 20, of Lombard was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment at about 9:30 p.m. May 3 at Elizabeth Street and St. Charles Road, police said.

DUI charges filed

• Thomas Hull, 51, of Lombard was charged with driving under the influence, speeding and having open alcohol at about 6:45 p.m. May 1 at Maple Street and Ahrens Court, police said.

• Brian Ball, 37, of Lombard was charged with driving under the influence at about 3:15 a.m. May 4 at Grace and Ash streets, police said.

Items reported stolen

• About 14 bras totaling $672 were reported stolen from a drawer at about 7:15 p.m. May 1 at Victoria’s Secret, 157 Yorktown Shopping Center, police said.

• About $95 was reported stolen from a cashier’s drawer at about 9 p.m. May 2 at Hancock Fabrics, 441 E. Roosevelt Road, police said.

• Cash and items were reported stolen from employee lockers at about 5:30 p.m. May 3 at Wet Seal, 163 Yorktown Shopping Center, police said.

Retail theft charged

Camille Ross, 33, of Elmhurst was charged with retail theft at about 2:45 p.m. May 2, at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown Shopping Center, police said.

Underage drinking alleged

• Robert Ackerman, 19, of Glen Ellyn; Jerome McClure, 19 of Glen Ellyn; Katherine Janecko, 20, of Brookfield; and Aimee Langer, 19, of Burr Ridge, were charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor May 1 on the 400 block of East Route 38, police said.

• Kevin Gleason, 17, of Lombard was charged with driving under the influence, possession of alcohol by a minor and consumption of alcohol by a minor; and Randy Gleason, 19, of Lombard, was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor and underage consumption at about 12:45 a.m. May 4 at the Shell, Meyers and Roosevelt roads, police said.

Villa Park

Battery counts filed

• Vanessa Osorio-Vega, 22, of Villa Park was charged with two counts of domestic battery at about 11:45 p.m. April 13 on the 400 block of Ardmore Avenue, police said.

• Richard Feliciano, 20, of Bensenville was charged with three counts of battery at about 4 p.m. April 18 on the 1100 block of North Yale Avenue, police said.

• Michael Flanders Sr., 37, of Maywood was charged with domestic battery and obstruction of justice at about 4:45 p.m. April 25 on the first block of East Division Street, police said.

• Jose Delgado, 22, of Villa Park was charged with battery and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia at about 10 p.m. April 28 on the 500 block of West Division Street, police said.

Drug charges filed

• Frank Hernandez, 20, of Addison was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 4:45 p.m. April 16 at North Avenue and Addison Street, police said.

• Jason Devincent, 22, of Roselle was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of a hypodermic syringe at about 5:15 p.m. April 25 at Phillips, 1 E. St. Charles Road, police said.

Retail theft charged

• Elda Zamaniego, 27, of Addison was charged with retail theft at about 3:15 p.m. April 22 at Target, 50 E. North Ave., police said.

• A juvenile was charged with retail theft at about 6 p.m. April 26 at Target, 50 E. North Ave., police said.

• Danilo Rivera, 17, and Martin Balbuena, 17, both of Glendale Heights, were charged with delivery of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 9 a.m. May 5 at Main Street and Central Avenue, police said.

DUI charged

• David Capps, 27, of Beloit, Wis., was charged with driving under the influence at about 1:15 a.m. April 11 at Roosevelt Road and Ardmore Avenue, police said.

• Erica Harms, 19, of Bolingbrook was charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 12:30 a.m. April 30 at Route 83 and Riverside Drive, police said.

Items reported stolen

• About $665 worth of clothing was reported stolen at about 1 p.m. April 10 from Grande Coin Laundry, 629 W. North Ave., police said.

• About $7,500 in merchandise was reported stolen at about 9:45 p.m. April 14 from Tobacco Plaza, 207 N. Addison Ave., police said.

• About $32 of gas was reported stolen at about 9:45 p.m. April 17 from Thornton, 250 E. Route 38, police said.

• A laptop and power cord were reported stolen at about 7:15 p.m. April 25 after a party at a home on the 200 block of East Monroe Street, police said.

• About $75 in cash and miscellaneous bags of chips and candy were reported stolen at about 2 p.m. April 28 from the vending machines at the Motel 6, 10 W. Roosevelt Road, police said.

Underage drinking charged

Three juveniles were charged with underage drinking at about 10 p.m. April 24 on the 500 block of North Ardmore Avenue, police said.
