Elmhurst College graduate school alumna Melissa Gosche recently was honored by Illinois Computing Educators as its 2009 Educator of the Year.
Gosche is a third-grade teacher at Kennedy Elementary School in Schiller Park, Ill. She earned her master’s of education in teacher leadership at Elmhurst College and a bachelor’s degree in English and elementary education at Marquette University.
In her nomination statement, Gosche described how she makes it a priority to create meaningful, engaging projects that connect curriculum and technology.
Gosche looks for ways to include technology in her everyday teaching, including animations that exhibit how food is digested for science lessons, podcasts that explain the weekly happenings in the classroom, and digital stories for personal narratives in writer’s workshop.
