Two pit bulls continue to recover at the DuPage County Animal Care and Control facility in Wheaton after two Lombard men were indicted last week for their involvement in a dog fight last month.
Robert Kollman, 21, of the 300 block of North Grace Street in Lombard, and Brian Moll, 22, of the 100 block of South Lombard Avenue in Lombard, were indicted on dog fighting charges by a DuPage County Grand Jury on June 19. The indictment stems from an incident May 23, where police responded to 383 N. Grace St. after neighbors told police they heard what sounded like dogs fighting and individuals cheering them on.
Kollman was released on bail later that day. Moll remains in DuPage County Jail on $20,000 bond, according to the DuPage County Corrections office. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 14.
The dogs remain in the custody of DuPage County Animal Control. Executive Director Kerry Vinkler said the dogs have warmed up to employees taking care of them, and she is optimistic the dogs will be fit for adoption.
“We do everything we can as long as they don't pose a threat to the community,” Vinkler said.
