ELMHURST, IL -

The United Community Concerns Association will celebrate its 30th anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26. The association helps Elmhurst families in need by providing food and food certificates five times throughout the year to those who have encountered difficult times.

Since its inception in 1977, volunteers from the ranks of businessmen and -women, social workers, teachers, retirees and residents have collected, sorted and packed food as well as delivered it to families. As the needs within the community have increased, the UCCA now serves more than 200 families within Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205.

The board of directors is inviting all who have volunteered or donated to the UCCA to attend the open house at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 125 W. Church St., Elmhurst. R.S.V.P. to (630) 834-0181 by Sunday, Oct. 19, if you are interested in attending the open house.

Attendees also are invited to bring a nonperishable food item to the celebration for the fall and winter gift baskets. No donated funds are being used to finance this celebration.
