Elsie Boyd celebrated her 105th birthday on Saturday, June 21, 2008, with 23 members of her family at her daughter and son-in-law Edie and Tom Johnston’s home in Burr Ridge. Present were her son, Cary Boyd, and his family, her six grandchildren and eight of her 11 great-grandchildren. Elsie was born June 24, 1903, in Chicago.
On June 27, her Glen Ellyn friends had a small celebration at the First United Methodist Church. She has been a member of the church since moving to Glen Ellyn in 1967. Members of her bridge group and close friends from the church were there to give Elsie a toast.
