Adriana Valverde Guillén and Dr. John B. Wendel married January 2008 in Chicago. The ceremony was presided over by the Rev. John M. Wendel. The bride is the daughter of José Valverde and Ligia Guillén of San José, Costa Rica. The groom is the son of Rev. and Mrs. John M. Wendel of Elmhurst.

The bride is a graduate of the Universidad Internacional de las Américas. She was employed in the banking sector in Costa Rica and currently is employed as a freelance translator. The groom is a graduate of York Community High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and also earned a doctorate degree from the National College of Chiropractic. He currently continues his practice in Arlington Heights.
