
Melanie Ann Pollack and Richard Mavec were married July 26, 2008, in Visitation Church in Elmhurst. The ceremony was presided over by the Rev. Matthew Pratscher. The bride is the daughter of Richard and Darlene Pollack of Elmhurst. The groom is the son of Edward Mavec of Plainfield and Susan Hicks of Morris.
Melanie chose Veronica Pollack as her maid of honor and Angela Sevcik as her matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Sarah Lipper, Ann Mason and Elizabeth Kimrey.
Richard chose Jonathan Mavec as his best man. The groomsmen were Eric Peterson, Pat Soreng, Ben Akre and John Dragos. The ushers were Richie Pollack and Joshua Kuhn.
The bride is a graduate of York High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in middle school education from Illinois State University in 2004 and just earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Nova Southeastern University. She is employed as a sixth-grade math teacher at Sandwich Middle School.
The groom is a graduate of Morris High School. He earned an associate’s degree from Joliet Junior College in 2002, and completed his bachelor’s degree in business from Phoenix University. He is employed as an audio and video specialist.
The couple traveled to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., during their honeymoon.
