Jeff Sluman waited five years to claim his first PGA tour victory, in 1988.
He needed less than a year to win his first event on the PGA Champions Tour. Sluman won the Bank of America Classic in Concord, Mass., Sunday, finishing the tournament at 17 under par.
Sluman was 8 under on the last day of the event and finished with a total of 199 strokes in the three-day event.
Sluman trailed Loren Roberts until sinking a 13-foot birdie putt on the 15th hole Sunday. That started a run of three birdies on the final four holes that eventually gave Sluman a two-stroke win over Roberts.
The victory was Sluman's first since winning the Greater Milwaukee Open on the PGA Tour in 2002.
