Downers Grove North’s 38-6 win over Addison Trail on Friday came largely courtesy of something that never got on track in last week’s loss to Prospect.
The Trojans’ offense.
Downers Grove North had 382 total yards of offense, passing for 126 and rushing for 256 in Addison, outscoring the Blazers 38-0 after Addison Trail’s Mike D’Ambrose kicked things off with a 77-yard touchdown run on the game’s first play.
“It’s all about how you bounce back from adversity,” said Trojans’ senior Joe Tokarski. “They didn’t score again after that, and that’s a big positive for us.”
Downers North (1-1) got touchdowns from Joe Claver, Leo Ellis, Marco Sanchez, and two from Jermal Jones in the win, plus a 22-yard Ellis field goal. The Blazers (0-2) struggled to get its offense on track for the second week.
“We’ve got to sustain blocks, and we have to generate some field position,” said Blazers coach Paul Parpet. “We can’t have our defense on the field as long as we do.”
