A three-year starting quarterback at Downers Grove South, Chandler Whitmer led the Mustangs to the Class 8A quarterfinals this year before getting an early jump on his next challenge.

Whitmer began classes at the University of Illinois earlier this month, giving him the opportunity to participate in preseason workouts and spring practice with the Illini. Arizona and Stanford were among the other finalists in his college decision.
