Downers Grove firefighters responded to a residential fire Wednesday night that caused $125,000 in damage. Fire officials said no injuries were reported.
Marsha Giesler, spokeswoman for the fire department, said preliminary investigations of the fire, at 2242 Midhurst Road, show the cause is electrical.
The fire department received the call about the fire at 11:15 p.m. Giesler said the homeowner woke up to the sound of the fire alarm and called 911. Giesler said the homeowner found flames near a computer in one of the second floor bedrooms.
Giesler said when firefighters arrived thick smoke was found throughout the neighborhood and flames were shooting out from a second story bedroom window.
The fire also extended to the attic and Giesler said firefighters had to tear down walls and the ceiling to extinguish all the flames.
The Lisle-Woodridge, Westmont and Naperville fire departments assisted in the incident.
