iPod taken from car
Police said a car was burglarized between 10:30 p.m. June 28 and 10 a.m. June 29 while parked on Saratoga Avenue. Police said an iPod valued at $325 was missing.
Woman charged with DUI
A woman was arrested for drunken driving at 2 a.m. June 24 at Ogden and Oakwood avenues after police saw her car tailgating another vehicle.
Cristina L. Hoffman, 25, 1410 Golden Bell Court, Downers Grove, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, following too closely and improper headlighting.
Park vandalized
Police said the east side of the tennis courts at McCollum Park, 6801 Main St., was spray-painted between 9:30 a.m. June 27 and 7 a.m. June 30. The estimated damage is $300.
Car burglarized
Police said a car parked on the 500 block of Burlington Avenue was burglarized between 6:30 p.m. June 27 and 7 a.m. June 28. Police said the driver’s side window was broken and items missing include military gear and a cell phone. The total loss is $750.
Home burglarized
Police said a home on the 1000 block of Oak Hill Road was burglarized between 7:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. June 30.
Police said the front door was open. The stolen property is estimated to be $500, and the damage is estimated to be $150.
Light damaged
Police said a street light at the Fairview Avenue train station, 5099 Fairview Ave., was damaged between midnight and 5 a.m. June 30. Police said it appears the street light was intentionally broken, and the estimated damage is $500.
Sex offender charged
Police said they arrested a man for not registering as a sex offender at 8:45 a.m. June 30 at 63rd and Main streets.
Police said Nathaniel L. Chambers, 37, of Harvey, was charged with a felony for unlawful failure to register as a sex offender.
Burger King damaged
Police said a door at Burger King, 7301 Lemont Road, was damaged between 8 and 8:15 p.m. June 30. Police said the upper glass frame on one of the doors was cracked. The estimated damage is $75.
Teen charged with drugs
While driving past a car parked on the 5700 block of Wanda Place at 9:15 p.m. June 24, police officers detected the smell of marijuana eminating from the vehicle.
After police questioned the driver, Ryan P. Russell, 17, of St. Charles, they found marijuana in the car’s center console. Russell was charged with marijuana possession.
Car burglarized
A car was burglarized between 6:45 and 7 p.m. June 30 at Kohl’s, 2920 Finley Road, police said. According to reports, a door window was smashed, and a camera and a purse were missing. The total loss is $2,429.
Obstruction alleged
Police pulled over a car traveling with only one working headlight at 3:15 a.m. July 1 on the 6200 block of Fairview Avenue.
According to police, the driver, Gregory T. Brown, 21, 204 Deming Place, Westmont, gave officers a fake name and birth date. After checking Brown’s information, police discovered his driver’s license was revoked.
Brown was charged with obstructing a police officer.
Church window damaged
A window at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 4501 Main St., was damaged between 6 p.m. July 2 and 7 a.m. July 3, police said. According to reports, there was a circular cut in the window. The damage is estimated at $500.
Man charged with DUI
A man was charged for drunken driving at 4 a.m. July 3 on the 1800 block of Ogden Avenue after police stopped him for speeding.
Police said Bartolomeo T. Maldonado, 27, of Lisle was driving 54 mph in a 35 mph zone. Maldonado was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.
Garage burglarized
A garage on the 4900 block of Stonewall Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 p.m. July 3 and 6:15 a.m. July 4, police said. According to reports, the items missing are valued at $520.
Donation box stolen
Police said a man stole a donation box from 7-Eleven, 4240 Main St., at 12:45 a.m. July 4. The box contained $80.
Police said the suspect is 18 to 24 years old, 6 feet tall, 170 to 180 pounds with short brown hair, and he was wearing a yellow shirt, light-blue shorts and athletic shoes.
Woman faces DUI charge
A woman was arrested for drunken driving after police found her and a male passenger passed out in a car with its engine running at 2:30 a.m. July 6 on the 500 block of 63rd Street.
Officers saw the parked car with its passenger-side door open. Police said they found a male passenger lying face-down in vomit in the parking lot with his feet still inside the car. Police said Denise A. Heafey, 49, of Evergreen Park was sitting in the driver’s seat, and there also was vomit outside her door. Heafey’s pants appeared to be soiled with vomit, police said.
Heafey was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
School sign damaged
A wooden sign at Hillcrest School, 1435 Jefferson Ave., was damaged between 5 p.m. July 3 and 10 a.m. July 6, police said. The sign above the school’s main entrance was knocked down and broken. The estimated damage is $100.
Car scratched
A car parked on the 4700 block of Elm Street was vandalized between 2 a.m. July 5 and noon July 6, police said. According to reports, the car was scratched in various spots, and the estimated damage is $1,000.
Car damaged
Police said a car was damaged while parked in Commuter Lot D, 1120 Gilbert Ave., between June 28 and July 6. Police said the car was scratched.
Man charged with DUI
A man was arrested for drunken driving after police saw his car weaving and cross the double yellow lane divider at 2:15 a.m. July 4 at Douglas Road and 39th Street.
Patrick W. Brown, 25, 319 Eighth St., Downers Grove, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use.
Car burglarized
Police said a car was burglarized between 7 a.m. July 4 and 8 a.m. July 6 on the 4100 block of Lindley Street. Police said a CD player was taken from the dashboard and a subwoofer was taken from the trunk. The estimated loss is $450.
