Police report suspicious man
The Downers Grove Police Department is looking for a suspicious man who tried to lure a child to his car with a juice box, police said.
Police said the girl was waiting for a school bus Sept. 17 on the 2100 block of Prentiss Drive when the man asked the girl to come to his car to take the juice box from him.
Police said the girl refused and the man drove away.
The man’s car is described as a black, older model compact car with minor rear-end damage.

Car stolen
Police said a car was stolen from the lot at Bill Kay Chrysler, 2100 Ogden Ave., between 2 p.m. Sept. 8 and 3:15 p.m. Sept. 11.
Police said the car is a 2008 black Chevrolet Cobalt. It’s valued at $15,795.
Shed burglarized
Police said a shed was burglarized between midnight Aug. 30 and noon Sept. 7 on the 6700 block of Fairmount Avenue.
Police said personal belongings, valued at $2,735, are missing, including bicycles, fishing poles and electronics.
Woman charged with theft
Police said a member of the TJ Maxx cleaning crew was caught stealing merchandise at 11 a.m. Sept. 14 at the store, 7349 Lemont Road.
Police said Katarzyna Bardo, 51, of Medinah, was seen on surveillance camera taking a wallet and socks into the cleaning supply closet and exiting without them.
Bardo was charged with retail theft.
Man charged with drugs
Police said they ran a car’s license plate and it came back suspended for not having insurance at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at Palmer Street and Dunham Road.
Police said while talking to the driver, John F. Ryan, 24, of 718 72nd St., Downers Grove, they found marijuana in the car.
Ryan was charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle with a suspended registration and possession of marijuana.
Man charged with drugs
Police said they arrested a man after finding drugs in his possession at 3:45 p.m. Sept. 13 at Finley and Lacey roads.
Police said David W. Yendrek, 49, of 1602 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, was charged with possession of marijuana.
Woman charged with theft
Police said a woman attempted to steal items from Ultra Foods, 1212 75th St., at 4:15 p.m. Sept. 17.
Police said Mary E. Williams, 42, of Darien, had empty Ultra Foods bags in her purse. Police said after paying for some items, she was stopped outside by an employee and they checked her items against the receipt.
Williams was charged with retail theft.
Man charged with DUI
A man was arrested for drunken driving at 1:15 a.m. Sept. 11 at Maple Avenue and Interstate 355 after police saw the car traveling the wrong way on a ramp.
Police said Douglas A. Binns, 30, of Plainfield, was charged with driving under the influence and disobeying a traffic control device.
