Man faces drug charges
Police arrested a man on charges of possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia after officers responded to a check on well-being request at about 10 a.m. July 12 on the 6700 block of South Aspen Lane.
Randy E. Sparks, 42, of 6707 South Aspen Lane, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Four battery counts against man
A man was arrested in connection with domestic battery after police said he hit people at about 4 p.m. July 12 on the 400 block of South Oak Street.
Jasbeer S. Sandhu, 48, of Westmont was charged with four counts of domestic battery.
Drug charges filed against Evergreen Park man
Police arrested a man in connection with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after officers responded to a disturbance at about 9 p.m. July 14 on the 800 block of South Adams Street.
George T. Hogan, 26, of Evergreen Park was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Man arrested on theft charge
Police said a man was arrested in connection with the theft of a $20 item at a grocery store at about 3 p.m. July 13 on the 6300 block of South Cass Avenue.
Michael A. Jandula, 44, of Willowbrook was charged with retail theft.
Two windows smashed
A vehicle windshield was smashed at about 5:30 p.m. July 14 on the 100 block of West 65th Street, police said. The estimated damage was $1,200.
A second vehicle window was smashed at about 11 p.m. on the 1000 block of South Williams Street, police said. The estimated damage was $1,800.
Car stereo stolen
A stereo was stolen from a parked vehicle during the night July 11 on the 500 block of East Ogden Avenue, police said.
The estimated loss was $475.
Laptop stolen
A briefcase containing a laptop computer was stolen from a vehicle after the window was smashed between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. July 16 on the 300 block of East Ogden Avenue, according to police reports. The total estimated loss was $1,550.
Costume jewelry stolen
Police said $35 in costume jewelry and $50 in cash were stolen from an unlocked business between July 12 and 15 on the 100 block of East Ogden Avenue.
Bike stolen
A bicycle was stolen from an accessible hallway during the night July 11 on the 500 block of Creekwood Court, according to police. The estimated loss was $100.
Bike stolen
A bike was stolen from the backyard of a home during the night July 16 on the 400 block of North Washington Street, police said. The estimated loss was $80.

Man faces drug charge
After stopping a car for speeding at 10 a.m. July 7, police said they found drugs in the driver’s possession.
While checking information on Michael J. Polz, 28, of Bolingbrook, police said they learned he was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court. Officers found marijuana in a search of Polz’s car, according to reports.
Polz was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and speeding.
Lotto tickets taken
A car was burglarized between 1:15 and 2 a.m. July 8 on the 1700 block of Oxnard Drive, according to police reports. Police said a cellular phone and lottery tickets were missing. The phone is valued at $350.
Cell phone missing
A cell phone was stolen from the Sprint store, 1546 75th St., between 6:15 and 6:30 p.m. July 8, police said. A Blackberry cell phone was stolen from a display, according to reports. The estimated loss is $350.
DUI charges for man who hit mailboxes
A man was arrested in connection with drunken driving after he hit two mailboxes at 5:15 p.m. July 8 at Leonard Avenue and 62nd Street, police said.
Wojciech Krzeminski, 43, of Lemont was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to reports.
Police make DUI arrest
A man was arrested in connection with drunken driving after police found him passed out in his car at the public works garage, 5101 Walnut Ave., at 4 a.m. July 9.
Police said Joseph H. McCoy, 30, of Chicago, hit a concrete barrier at the garage. At the police station, police found marijuana in McCoy’s pocket, officers said.
McCoy was charged with two counts of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana.
Mailbox damaged
A mailbox was damaged at 10 a.m. July 9 on the 1400 block of Virginia Street, police said. According to reports, there was an explosion, and the mailbox caught on fire. The estimated damage is $80.
Man faces drug charges
Police said they stopped a car at 1:30 a.m. July 6 at 640 Ogden Ave. after they saw the car speeding and then found the driver in possession of heroin.
Police said the driver, Davenia Muhammad, 48, of Chicago, had a suspended driver’s license and attempted to give them a false license.
Police said while searching Muhammad, they found heroin in his bag, and a bag of marijuana. Police also found a bottle of liquor in his car, they said.
Muhammad was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, attempted obstruction of a police officer, driving with a suspended license and illegal transportation of alcohol.
Man charged with DUI
A man was charged with drunken driving after police pulled him over because his car had only one working headlight at 2 a.m. at 75th Street and Devereux Road.
Matthew A. Brown, 25, of Naperville was charged with driving under the influence, improper lighting, driving with one headlight and improper lane use.
Man charged with DUI
A man was charged with drunken driving at 2:30 a.m. July 12 at Belmont Road and Curtiss Street after police saw the car straddling the double yellow line.
Daniel F. Farrar, 34, of 5630 Lyman Ave., Downers Grove, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use.
Equipment stolen
Police said a truck was burglarized between 11 and 11:30 a.m. July 14 while parked on the 6900 block of Main Street.
Police said gas-powered equipment valued at $1,731 was missing.
Ornaments stolen
Police said squirrel and rabbit lawn ornaments were stolen from a yard on the 1400 block of Palmer Street between 10 p.m. July 9 and 12:30 p.m. July 12. Police said the two ornaments are valued at $40.
Tires punctured
Police said two car tires were punctured between 9 and 11:30 p.m. July 11 while it was parked on the 6500 block of Berrywood Drive. Damage is estimated at $800.
Police said while responding to that incident, they received a call that four tires on another car were punctured on the 500 block of 66th Street.
