Westmont police said a man who was found at Ty Warner Park after apparently shooting himself in the head with a gun Tuesday has died.
Kenneth R. Dygdon, 64, of Wilmington, Ill, was pronounced dead late yesterday afternoon at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, according to police.
Police said they received a 911 call early Tuesday afternoon of a man with a gun in the park, Blackhawk and Plaza drives. When they arrived, police found Dygdon near a park bench with a gunshot would that appeared to be self-inflicted, said Deputy Police Chief Randy King. He was rushed to the hospital.
Police said they are treating the incident as a death investigation but have said there is no evidence at this time of any foul play and there is no threat to the public.
It was still uncertain as to who found the victim, police said. King indicated they were talking with witnesses to see if anyone saw what may have happened, but no one had reported had hearing any gunshots in the park.
