As of Thursday morning, two people have filed nominating petitions with the village clerk’s office for seats that will open on Downers Grove Village Council next spring.

April Holden, village clerk, said current Commissioner William Waldack filed Monday. The second petition was filed by Bob Barnett, according to Holden.

The nominating period is one week long and ends on Monday at 5 p.m.

Commissioner Martin Tully has announced he is not seeking a third term.

The term of Commissioner Marilyn Schnell, who was first appointed in 1988, will also expire in May. She has not yet announced her plans.

The terms for Mayor Ron Sandack and commissioners Sean P. Durkin, Geoff Neustadt and Bruce Beckman expire in 2011.
