An Oak Park man who was convicted in February of sexually abusing a teenage female family member is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday in DuPage County Circuit Court.
Bruce Krebs, 58, abused the girl over the course of more than three years, beginning in April 2000, when she was 14, and ending in September 2003, authorities said. The incidents took places in unincorporated DuPage County near Downers Grove.
A DuPage County jury convicted Krebs Feb. 29 of five counts of criminal sexual assault by a person in a position of trust and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
At his sentencing, Krebs faces a minimum of 23 years in prison, assistant state’s attorney Liam Brennan said.
He was arrested March 7, 2004, by DuPage County sheriff’s deputies.
The victim’s mother said in an interview last week she was very thankful to police for conducting a thorough investigation. The Downers Grove Reporter does not identify victims or family members of sexual assault.
Krebs is a former treasurer of the Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest.
His sentencing hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday in courtroom 4014 of the DuPage County courthouse in Wheaton.
