Westmont, IL -

A Westmont woman was sentenced to 3-1/2 years in prison Tuesday for driving drunk, six years after pleading guilty to killing her infant daughter in a drunken driving crash.

Polly M. Myers, 33, 420 N. Wilmette St., was arrested for DUI in Clarendon Hills in November, her second DUI in DuPage County, according to Paul Darrah, spokesman for the DuPage County attorney’s general’s office.

Clarendon Hills Police said they received a call at 6 p.m. Nov. 13 about a reckless driver passing through the Prospect School soccer field and exiting the Clarendon Hills Park District parking lot. When police checked the area, they discovered a hit-and-run accident where a vehicle had been sideswiped on Algonquin Road near Iroquois Drive that appeared to be related.

Police located Myers and arrested her in her driveway at about 6 p.m. Nov. 13. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, leaving the scene of the accident and failure to give aid or information after striking a vehicle.

Police Chief Patrick Anderson said his department aggressively pursued the case in court.

“It was after school hours, but nonetheless she was driving her vehicle recklessly, which we took very seriously,” Anderson.

Myers plead guilty to aggravated DUI June 10, Darrah said.

The charge carries a minimum sentence of probation and a maximum of six years in prison, Darrah said. Myers will be eligible for parole after serving half of her sentence.
In 2003, Myers plead guilty to reckless homicide for a drunken driving crash that killed her 11 1/2-month-old-daughter in LaSalle County the year prior.
