Downers Grove, IL -

A Downers Grove hotel was evacuated Tuesday after a possible fire, but the situation was quickly controlled by first responders.

A man staying at Downers Grove’s Extended Stay America, 3150 Finley Road, said around 4:30 p.m. he heard alarms going off. When he stepped into the hall he saw a “haze” coming from the electrical closet.

Downers Grove fire officials said the entire hotel was evacuated. A fire official said a sprinkler system fuse may have caused the situation. It is not yet known if there was a fire.

No one was injured, according to the fire department.

Firefighters were still on the scene at 5 p.m. when people were allowed back inside.

Traffic has reopened at Branding Avenue and Finley Road after police blocked it so emergency crews could have access.

Oak Brook and Westmont fire departments were also on scene.

Check back Wednesday for more details.
