The Downers Grove Fire Department responded to two fires Wednesday night, including a loading dock fire at 11:15 p.m. at 1341 Warren Ave.
Marsha Giesler, the fire department’s public information officer, said when firefighters arrived they “found combustible materials, which had been stacked against the west wall of the outer loading dock, on fire.” When firefighters arrived an individual was attempting to put the fire out with a garden hose.
Giesler said flames also spread to a section of the roof.
No injuries were reported in the loading dock incident, which caused $50,000 in damages.
Firefighters from Lisle-Woodridge, Westmont, Naperville, Darien-Woodridge, Oak Brook, York Center, Lemont and Hinsdale departments assisted in extinguishing the fire, which was put out at 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A garbage receptacle fire behind a 7-Eleven convenience store, 4946 Main St., was extinguished by the Downers Grove Fire Department shortly after 10 p.m.
No one was injured in the fire.
Giesler said because the receptacle was up against the building’s rear wall, the flames were beginning to damage electrical equipment.
Giesler said firefighters pulled the receptacle away from the wall and put the fire out.
The estimated property damage is $1,000.
