District 58 to offer Chinese immersion language program for second yearSTARTALK is a federally subsidized language program that provides a Chinese language immersion program.

Jump Rope for Heart has raised more than $141,000 to date for the American Heart Association.

The final eighth-grade science unit at Herrick this year focuses on cancer, and instead of doing a final project or test, staff and students decided to do a community outreach project.

The school was also recognized with the Lyell J. Thomas Memorial Award for supporting outstanding student research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The board also approved spending $367,612 for a synthetic field to be used for soccer and softball at North High School.

El Sierra plans to teach about solar energy and use the data from the PV panels at every grade level.

The students will also sell wristbands and gift basket raffle tickets during all lunch periods the week of May 7 to raise awareness about genocides throughout the world and raise funds for the various charities.
   

Each student was provided a sapling and information booklet to take home.

The Woodridge Area Chamber of Commerce is taking reservations for it’s annual Scholarship Luncheon, which recognizes graduating high school seniors in Woodridge.

The exhibit will be open during normal business hours, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The students designed the flyer and wrote the letter that was sent home, and families donated nearly everything that was requested, from paper towels and detergent to food and toys.

 All students are invited to submit pieces for consideration in the show. Only the best are chosen for inclusion. The University of Findlay is a comprehensive university with a hands-on approach to learning located in Findlay, Ohio.

The survey is an integral part of the district’s  long-term strategic goal to expand communications with the entire district community, and enhance  conversations and partnerships, Supterintendent Mark McDonald said.

Isaacson has coached the junior varsity Athenas since 2007, receiving numerous first and second place trophies in dance competitions. She has also coached varsity poms at Rolling Meadows High School, where her team placed first in state.

All student activities related to clubs and organizations were canceled.
