8th annual fishing derby held at Barth Pond

About 225 participants headed out to Barth Pond at Patriots Park Saturday for the 8th annual fishing derby.

The fishing derby is run by the Downers Grove Park District. This year’s event was co-sponsored by The Downers Grove Moose Rod and Gun Club and Babich and Associates.

Prizes were handed out in four age groups for the individual who caught the shortest and longest fish.

Winners from the four age groups:

5 years old and younger:
Longest fish: Brandon Craddoch: 16 inches
Shortest fish: Jack Galvan: 2 1/4 inches

6 to 10 years old:
Longest fish: Joey Galvan: 17 3/4 inches
Shortest fish: Joseph Hardy: 2 7/8 inches

11 to 15 years old:
Longest fish: Danny Lawinger: 18 1/4 inches
Shortest fish: John Krupa: 4 1/8 inches

16 and older:
Longest fish: John Curtis: 20 inches
Shortest fish: Joe Galvan: 1 3/4 inches
