The Downers Grove Fire Department has displayed large wreaths at each of the fire station and asks residents to keep the lights red.

The 34th annual “Keep The Wreaths Red” program is to remind residents of the extra fire prevention efforts needed during the holiday season.

If a holiday related fire occurs in the village between Dec. 1 and Jan. 1, one of the lights in the wreath at each of the four stations is changed to white.  It becomes the responsibility of each resident to keep all four wreaths red, according to fire officials.

For more information call the Fire Department at (630) 434-5980.
