With all 16 precincts reporting, the LaGrange park referendum has passed, with about 55 percent of voters in favor.
11 p.m. —
With more than 93 percent of the vote in, La Grange residents appear to favor the sale of 2.85 acres of Gordon Park land to Atlantic Realty Partners.
Fifteen out of 16 precincts were counted with 4,038 residents voting yes, compared to 3,354 opposed.
The vote followed a contentious campaign between supporters who see the land sale as a means to put money in the district’s coffers and having major improvements done in the park by the developer. Opponents charge the sale depletes what they believe to be an already diminishing amount of green space in the village.
