With all precincts reporting in Oakbrook Terrace, the city clerk referendum was rejected by voters by more than a two-to-one ratio.
A total of 1,076 votes were cast in the referendum, with 683 (68 percent) voting no and 322 (32 percent) yes votes.
9:20 p.m.:
The city clerk referendum race is gaining more speed toward a no answer as five of the 10 precincts in the city have reported.
With 723 (49 percent) of votes counted, the no vote has an overwhelming majority of 473 votes (70 percent) to 206 yes votes (30 percent).
8:38 p.m.:
Early results show that voters in Oakbrook Terrace are rejecting the idea of making the city clerk an appointed position instead of the elected position as it is currently.
With 17.1 percent of the votes counted, 147 votes (62 percent) were against making the clerk appointed and 92 (38 percent) were in favor of the idea.
