While it was a tough day for Republicans nationally, many Republicans in Kane County retained their local offices Tuesday night.
Countywide, Republicans won 14 of a possible 20 offices and board memberships and swept all six county public offices.
County Board District 12 incumbent John Hoscheit, a native of St. Charles, beat opponent Ronald Spychalski with 64.9 percent of the vote.
Circuit Clerk Deborah Seyller defeated Democrat Edmund Nendick 56 percent to 34.6 percent.
Charles West will remain the county’s coroner after defeating Democrat Stan Hickrod by earning 51.1 percent (82,624 votes) to Hickrod’s 39.1 percent (63,238).
William Keck beat Democrat Thomas Sandor for county auditor, and Elgin native Sandy Wegman retained her seat as Kane County recorder.
