The incumbent candidate for legislative senate District 21, which covers areas of Cook and DuPage counties, said he feels confident in a victory and retaining the seat held for nearly two decades.

State Sen. Dan Cronin, R-21st District, of Elmhurst, voted Tuesday just before 6:30 a.m. at the Elmhurst Presbyterian Church where he said the line of people waiting to cast their ballot was out the door.

Cronin said the wait to vote was enjoyable because he saw many friends from the Elmhurst neighborhood where he grew up and lives today.

“It was a nice buzz,” Cronin said.

With 18 years of experience in Springfield under his belt as both a state Representative and state Senator, Cronin said his campaign this year focused around showing voters his ability to make progress.

“I wanted to communicate to people a record of accomplishment and since I’ve been in Springfield for a number of years and people look at Springfield with a lot of frustration or that things are not working well in Springfield I thought it was important for me to say despite what’s going on and the Democratic leadership that has really bounded the process I’m proud to report to the voters I’m playing a role in positively getting things done.
