Two slates file for February primary election

Two slates of candidates for city and township offices filed signatures this week to gain spots on the February primary ballot.

Berwyn Mayor Michael O’Connor and the Independent Voters of Berwyn slate of candidates on Monday filed petitions with more than 3,000 signatures from Berwyn residents backing O’Connor’s re-election, and election of the IVB candidates.

Berwyn Alderman Robert J. Lovero, 7th Ward, and the Democratic Citizens of Berwyn slate of candidates on Monday filed petitions with more than 3,400 signatures from Berwyn residents backing Lovero’s mayoral election, and election of the DCOB candidates.

* IVB’s slate candidates include:

Kate Walczak, running for 1st Ward alderman; Steve Shonder, running for 2nd Ward alderman; Marge Paul, running for 3rd Ward alderman; Bob Fejt, running for 4th Ward alderman; Jesse Barrios, running for 5th Ward alderman; Susan Anderson, running for 6th Ward alderman; and Sandy Radtke, running for 7th Ward alderman.

Berwyn Community Outreach Director Jeanmarie Hajer is running for city and township clerk.
City Treasurer Gary Pater is running for re-election.

Linda Kampe, the head of public health at Cook County Jail, is running for Berwyn Township supervisor. Al Kveton is running for re-election as township assessor.

Lou Angeloni is running for township collector. Township trustees Ed Rios and Alice Krzak are running for re-election, while James Cervantes and Eddie Borrayo are running for trustee spots.

* DCOB’s slate of candidates includes:

Alderman Nona Chapman, running for re-election to the 1st Ward; Jeff Boyajian, running for 2nd Ward alderman; Vince LaPaglia, running for 3rd Ward alderman; Alderman Michele Skryd, running for re-election to the 4th Ward; Ricky Sanchez, running for 5th Ward alderman; Ted Polashek, running for 6th Ward alderman; Ralph Avila, running for 7th Ward alderman; and Nora Laureto, running for 8th Ward alderman.

City and Township Clerk Thomas Pavlik is running for re-election to these posts. Joe Kroc is running for city treasurer.

Beth Pechous, a School Board member in South Berwyn District 100, is running for Berwyn Township supervisor. David Avila is running for township assessor.

Jeffrey Quintana is running for township collector. Township Trustee Aimee Sordelli is running for re-election, while Beverly Pastorek, Donna Calvello and Ed Espinoza are running for trustee spots.
