Downers Grove, IL -

Hillcrest third graders participated in Pioneer Day on Wednesday with a few different activities. The day will began with a hearty pioneer-type breakfast with pancakes, muffins, biscuits and sausage. Following breakfast, students practiced elocution and those who had memorized it, recited a poem, "Try Try Again"  and read passages from a McGuffy Reader. The activities ended with a spelling bee and a little square dancing demonstration for the mothers who volunteered their time.
