The big top is returning to Downers Grove.

The Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58 is hosting the Kelly Miller Circus Sept. 23.

The circus will be held at O’Neill Middle School, 635 59th St., and is expected to raise about $10,000 for the schools of District 58.

“We’ll see how the ticket sales go,” said Brian Krajewski, foundation vice president.

Foundation President Greg Bedalov said the 14 VIP box seats, at $300 each, are sold out for both shows.

“Regular ticket sales are going well,” Bedalov said. “We typically have walk-up sales the day of.”

The foundation is anticipating both shows to be sold out this year, but tickets remain available.

The foundation had gotten the idea from the Naperville Education Foundation, who has been hosting the circus for years, according to Krajewski.

The circus is now in its sixth year at Downers Grove, and schools have been able to utilize the money from previous years to do something for students outside of the normal funding.

For example, District 58 will do a sneak preview day for all the incoming seventh graders before they begin their first year of middle school. They also give out grants to schools and teachers.

Tickets are selling at $6 for children and $12 for adults and can be purchased at Community Bank of Downers Grove, 1111 Warren Ave. or 718 Ogden Ave.; or the District 58 administrative office, 1860 63rd St. They can also be purchased online at dg58ef.com.

“We hope everybody comes out and enjoys the circus,” Bedalov said.
