Man charged with DUI
Darren Gelbuda, 41, 545 Walker Road, Hinsdale, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, disobeying a traffic signal and driving an unsafe vehicle after being arrested at about 5 a.m. March 22 at York and Walker roads, police said.
Computer taken from car
A laptop computer valued at $800 was reported taken at about 10:45 p.m. March 17 from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 100 block of South Garfield Avenue, police said.
DUI alleged
Amy Leska, 30, of Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, failure to signal, driving with expired registration and driving without proof of insurance.
She was arrested at about 2:30 a.m. March 21 at Ogden Avenue and Oak Street, according to police.
Police make DUI stop
Mary Dvoulety, 25, 403 of La Grange Park, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage after being arrested at about 1:45 a.m. March 15 at 55th and Madison streets, police said.
Teens cited for drinking
Trevor Horton, 18, 35 Woodstock Ave., Clarendon Hills, and Michael Thompson, 18, 45 Maple Ave., Clarendon Hills, were both charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age after being arrested at about 12:45 a.m. March 21 near 58th Place and Madison Street, police said.
Burglary suspect charged
Jake D. Marinko, 18, 111 N. Lincoln St. Hinsdale, was charged with burglary for his alleged role in a residential burglary to a home in the 100 block of Lincoln Street, police said.
According to police reports, Marinko is suspected of forcing his way into a residence between 11 p.m. March 21 and 8:45 a.m. March 22 and taking a Nintendo Wii game console and $150 in cash, police said.
Marinko gained access to the residence by cutting a screen and opening an unlocked window, said Hinsdale Deputy Police Chief Mark Wodka. The residents were asleep at the time and told police they heard nothing unusual, Wodka said.
Police arrested Marinko at his home — in the same block as the victim’s home — at about 2 p.m. March 22, according to Wodka.
All stolen items were recovered and returned, Wodka said.
DARIEN
Domestic battery alleged
Daniel M. Sheridan, 47, of Darien, was charged with domestic battery after being arrested at about 8:45 p.m. March 1 in the 7500 block of Country Lane for reports of a disturbance, police said.
According to police reports, Sheridan allegedly kicked a person in the chest and held a kitchen knife to the person’s throat.
Two eggings reported
Darien police continue to investigate two incidents that occurred Feb. 27 where homes were struck with eggs.
According to police a home in the 600 block of Glen Lane was struck with eggs at about 6:15 p.m. Feb. 27, about 10 minutes before a resident in the 8000 block of Sawyer Road reported a residence there had also been egged.
No damage amount was given by police.
Grill stolen
A $700 gas grill was reported taken between Feb. 25 and 28 from a residential backyard in the 600 block of Glen Lane, police said.
Trespassing alleged
Lori A. Guitierrez, 41, 2630 Woodmere Drive, Darien, was charged with criminal trespass to property after being arrested at about 3 p.m. Feb. 23 after she reportedly removed a ladder from a neighbor’s garage without permission, police said.
Cars reported burglarized
Darien police continue to investigate four burglaries to vehicles that took place within a two-day span, police said. In all four cases, police said, entry was gained by breaking vehicle windows.
A global positioning unit valued at more than $650 was reported taken between 4 and 6:30 a.m. March 14 from a locked vehicle in the 7700 block of Wildwood court, police said.
A purse and a cell phone, items valued at $500, were reported taken from a locked vehicle between 8:30 p.m. March 13 and 6:15 a.m. March 14, from the 100 block of Hinswood Drive, police said.
A flashlight, a carton of cigarettes and a digital tire pressure gauge valued a $290 were reported taken between 5 p.m. March 12 and 12:30 p.m. March 13, from a locked vehicle in the 7500 block of Nantucket Drive, according to police.
A global positioning system unit valued at $500 was reported taken between 1 and 7:30 a.m. March 12 from a vehicle parked in the 7400 block of Brookdale Drive, police said.
Gas theft alleged
Vincent J. Guiffra, 34, of Hoffman Estates, was charged with theft after allegedly driving off without paying for $50 worth of gasoline.
The man also was charged with driving without insurance and disobeying a traffic signal after being arrested at about 10 p.m. March 14 in the 8200 block of Cass Avenue, police said.
Francis Flynn, 25, of Blue Island, a passenger in the vehicle, was charged with an outstanding Cook County warrant for criminal damage to property, police said.
Wallet reported stolen
A wallet was reported taken at 12:15 p.m. March 10, while the owner was taking a blood pressure test at Wal-Mart, 2189 75th St., according to police.
