Cars burglarized
Two burglaries in which coins were taken from unlocked car were reported July 23 in the 0 to 100 block of South Monroe Street, police said.
In both cases, coins valued at about $5 were reported taken from unlocked cars between about 11 p.m. July 22 and 7 a.m. July 23, according to police.
One vehicle was parked in a driveway, the other was in an open garage, police said.
Tools reported stolen
A power hacksaw, rotary hammer and a hammer drill — items valued at $2,950 — were reported taken between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. July 20 in a Salt Creek Lane parking lot, police said.
According to police reports, someone forced their way into a company-owned van to gain entry.
Man charged with DUI
Frank Moreno Jr., 40, of Crestwood was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, speeding, improper lane usage and no proof of insurance after being pulled over at 3 a.m. July 26 at 55th Street and Garfield Avenue, police said.
According to police, Moreno was stopped for speeding and improper lane usage, failed a field sobriety test, then refused to submit to a breath test.
Underaged drinking alleged
Frank Angileri, 18, 2623 W. 35th St., Oak Brook was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age after being arrested at about 12:15 a.m. July 23 at County Line Road and Sixth Street.
Officers arrested Angileri after police were called to the area for reports of a fight in progress, according to police.
No charges were filed regarding the fight, police said.
Mailbox reported stolen
A white, cast iron mailbox valued at $500 was reported taken between 11:30 p.m. July 21 and 1 a.m. July 22 from in front of a home in the 0 to 100 block of Charleston Road, according to police.
Downspout missing
A copper downspout valued at $100 was reported taken between 11 p.m. July 19 and 7 a.m. July 20 from a home in the 400 block of North Vine Street, police said.
Darien
Coach lights damaged
In three separate instances, vandals reportedly smashed the tops of coach lights between 9 p.m. July 25 and 8:45 a.m. July 26 in two residential areas, police said.
According to police, two lights were damaged in the 7900 block of Grant Street and one was damaged in the 1400 block of Greenbriar Lane, police said. Damage is estimated at $50 each lamp.
Van reported stolen
A white, 1994 Chevy Van was reported stolen some between 9 p.m. July 20 and 8 a.m. July 21 from a parking lot in the 1100 block of Chalet Drive, police said.
According to police, the owner said the van was locked at the time it was stolen. No details were provided about the contents of the van.
Bicycle taken
A dark green woman’s mountain bicycle, valued at $150, was reported taken between noon and 4 p.m. July 22 from an open garage in the 7800 block of Dorchester Lane, police said.
