Now that Labor Day has passed, white shoes and swimsuits will soon be thrown in the closet. But the end of summer in Hinsdale is something to celebrate, not frown upon.

“This is event is great way for the community to come together to wrap up the summer,” said Gina Hassett, the new director of Parks and Recreation. “School has just started and fall is right around the corner. It is always fun to get together with neighbors and family.”
The event was moved from Katherine Legge Memorial Park to Burlington Park last year after the original event date was rained out. The venue turned out to be such a hit, that the downtown park has become the new home of the Summer Bash.
The Summer Bash will feature David Cassidy of the Partridge Family and many community members cannot wait.
Theresa Gimpel, director of programming and exhibition at the Hinsdale Center for the Arts, said she is most looking forward to seeing Cassidy perform.
“It’ll just be great,” Gimpel said. “A lot of people will be there, and I think it will be a fun event.”
Before Cassidy takes the stage, the night will kick off with an egg hunt for prizes at 5:45 p.m. followed by a performance by HCA hip hop dancers and the Hinsdale chorale.
With music, food and drinks, the event has not only proved to be a great family event, but one that attracts neighbors to downtown Hinsdale.
Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jan Anderson said the bash is a wonderful community event that concludes all the activities that happened during the summer.
“I think any event that brings people into the community will always help business and hopefully they will enjoy coming to Hinsdale,” Anderson said.
