The Hinsdale Family Medicine Center, in conjunction with the Adventist Hinsdale Hospital Family Medicine Residency program, will offer residents the H1N1 flu vaccine from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 at the clinic, 135 North Oak St., Hinsdale.
The center has 500 adult and 500 pediatric doses of the vaccine, which will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, said Dr. Clara Carls, program director of Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s Family Medicine Residency program.
While the vaccine itself is free, there will be a $16 administrative fee, payable in cash or check. No insurance will be billed.
“This virus is not going to go away,” said Carls. “It’s still necessary to get immunized as soon as you can. It’s especially important for children and women who are pregnant, as well as young adults and anyone with a chronic disease to be vaccinated.”
Last month the clinic began vaccinating its high-risk patients along with medical staff and nurses at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital.
More than 1,300 vaccines were administered.
