The Hinsdale Humane Society has adopted out 16 kittens in November as part of the organization’s “Fall in Love” kitten adoption special, and now the organization has added a wrinkle to the initiative.

Two weeks ago the Hinsdale Village Board received a dim financial report outlining what officials had suspected for more than a year — not enough revenue coming in to cover expenses, as well as a whopping $90 million cost estimate to rebuild and maintain the town’s aging infrastructure.

Digging out of what Hinsdale Village President Tom Cauley termed a “dire financial mess” will require a variety of measures that could include tax and fee increases, significantly reduced expenditures and even privatizing the village’s water and sewer.
