School Board shouldn’t move funds around
How can Hinsdale Township High School District 86 continue to move money from the working cash fund to the capital projects fund thought the education fund after a recent Appellate Court ruling stated money cannot be used in this manner? I’m beginning to think our school district likes going to court based off the number of outstanding tax objections pending.
I find this behavior inexcusable and audacious at best. And even worse, your censure of fellow board member Dianne Barrett has the taste of controlling the message, which I find this extremely damaging to the district’s image.

Organization privileged to be part of July 4 parade
I am truly privileged to be part of such a caring community. As the new executive director of Hinsdale Community Service, I enjoyed participating in the festivities on the Fourth of July. As I rode along with our float in the parade, I witnessed many “random acts of kindness.”
We appreciate the support of our high school football team and debutantes who walked alongside our float to gather bags stuffed with food and accepted cash donations. By the end of the parade route, we had acquired more than 500 bags of groceries and more than $2,700 in cash. I wish you could have witnessed the human line of volunteers unloading all the bags of food off the float.
I’d like to especially thank Hinsdale Bank and Trust for generously matching all donations. We appreciate this demonstration of outstanding community leadership as they continue their support of Hinsdale Community Service. I would also like to thank all the volunteers who sacrificed part of their holiday to lend a helping hand. Last but not least, thank you to Sue Nibeck for heading up this effort on behalf of Hinsdale Community Service.
Your gift of time and resources truly makes a difference in the lives of more than 3,000 people annually to help prevent homelessness and hunger. Without our generous donors, we could not continue our mission of “providing a lifeline to neighbors in need.” Thank you.
Susan Fritz, executive director, Hinsdale Community Service
