Darien, IL -

DuPageBiz, a group dedicated to advancing DuPage County as a business location, said the economic impact from possible layoffs at Argonne National Laboratory near Darien and Batavia-based Fermilab could produce $56 million in lost direct and indirect economic activity locally, based on modeling software.
The group urged the federal government to restore funding cuts at Argonne and Fermilab that were announced earlier this month.
“The economic impact of funding cuts at Fermilab and Argonne will ripple through the local economy creating layoffs in other service businesses that rely on the wages and purchasing of those facilities,” said DuPage Biz President and CEO Roger Hopkins.
