
Stonegate Brass Quintet, along with organist Christopher Orf, harpist and organist Robert Hutmacher, a Franciscan friar, and St. Michael’s Choir, will perform “Music for the End of Time” as part of Chiesa Nuova’s fall music series at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, in St. Michael’s Church, 310 S. Wheaton Ave., Wheaton.
A Franciscan performing arts ministry founded by Hutmacher, Chiesa Nuova presents monthly performing arts events, usually in Chicago. “Music for the End of Time” will be a compilation of classical music including a hymn by Hutmacher titled “Let Us Begin.”
The Stonegate Brass, formed in 2004 by Paul Semanic, is recognized for its interpretations of the classics and for bringing lesser known works to its audiences. The ensemble members have performed with such orchestras as the Chicago Symphony, Lyric Opera and Music of the Baroque.

Looking ahead to the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Franciscan Order by Francis of Assisi in 1209, Chiesa Nuova will present concerts June 26 and 27, in River Forest, featuring the Glen Ellyn-based New Classic Singers, soloists and full orchestra. Featured will be an oratorio by Hutmacher, “Dialogue of Francis and Clare.” The role of St. Francis will be sung by world-renowned bass-baritone Alan Held and mezzo-soprano Stacy Eckert will sing the role of St. Clare.
