Hinsdale
Teen arrested for theft
Carsten Swarthout, 18, 740 S. Bodin St., Hinsdale was charged with theft after being arrested at about noon Aug. 7 after a victim reported two iPods were stolen from her car Aug. 5.

According to police, the victim knew Swarthout, who had authorization to go into the vehicle.
Police said the theft occurred between 2 and 3 p.m. Aug. 5 in the vicinity of Third  and Columbia streets.

Investigators were able to recover the iPods from a pawn shop in Westmont, police said. The devices are valued at $300.

Underage drinking alleged
Two Hinsdale boys were charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia after being arrested at about 1 p.m. Aug. 14 in the 300 block of The Lane, police said.

One boy also was charged with possession of marijuana, police said.

Police arrested the two after receiving a report of intoxicated teens walking in the area of The Lane and Oak Street, according to police.

Downspouts stolen
Three copper downspouts, valued at $750, were reported stolen between 5 p.m. Aug. 10 and 8 a.m. Aug. 11 in the 800 block of North Elm Street, police said.

Vandalism reported
A victim residing in the 400 block of North Clay Street told police eggs were thrown at her home and a truck parked in the driveway at about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 4. No damage estimate was provided.

Darien
Cab fare left unpaid
A cab driver reported a man picked up in Chicago and dropped off near Bailey Road and Darien Lake Drive at 3:15 a.m. Aug. 12 ran from the taxi without paying a $98 cab fare, police said.
According to police, the man jumped a nearby fence and was gone before officers were called to the scene.

Car burglarized
• A global positioning system unit, valued at $100, was reported taken at 3:30 a.m. Aug. 15 from a car parked in the 7400 block of Brookdale Drive, police said.

• A CB radio, valued at $100, was reported stolen between noon Aug. 14 and 9 a.m. Aug. 15 from a truck parked on South Frontage Road, police said. Access was gained through a broken window, according to police.

• An iPod, valued at $200, was reported taken between 11:30 p.m. July 30 and 8 a.m. July 31 from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 900 block of Walnut Street, police said.

Man faces DUI charge
Nick A. Murray, 19, 17332 W. Bluff Road, Lemont, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and speeding after being arrested at about 1:15 a.m. Aug. 15 in the 8000 block of Cass Avenue, police said.

Another occupant in the vehicle, Stephanie P. Falling, 19, 165 Queens Wood Road, Bolingbrook, was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.
