Commissioner Kathryn Engel-Accetura resigned from the Downers Grove Park Board because she is moving out of the village.
After reading her letter during the Nov. 19 board meeting, her resignation became effective Friday, Nov. 20. She was elected to the Park Board in 2007.
Commissioner Janet Barr nominated Fred Gusel to be appointed to the vacant position. Gusel was a candidate during the April election.
The Park Board unanimously voted to appoint Gusel to the five-member board.
Gusel will be sworn in during the Dec. 3 Park Board meeting and will serve out the remainder of Engel-Accetura’s term, which expires in 2011.
