Adventist Hinsdale Hospital will conduct a free program on ovarian cancer awareness and treatment from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the Hinsdale Community House, 415 W. State St., Hinsdale.
Dr. Sudarshan Sharma, a gynecologist oncologist, will present the program, which is geared to women of all ages
“While this type of cancer typically targets women over 55 years old it is never too early to start learning about the symptoms, stages, and treatment of ovarian cancer,” Sharma said.
According to Sharma, only 24 percent of ovarian cancers are diagnosed at an early stage. In fact, most of these cases are diagnosed after the cancer has spread through out other parts of the body, making it more difficult to treat.
