Man nabbed on warrant
Thomas L. Greer, 54, of Hines was arrested on an outstanding warrant at about 12:30 a.m. Sept. 2 after employees at Burger King, 2147 Oak Park Ave., told police he was acting suspicious, police said.

When police arrived, Greer was standing beside a motorcycle and said he was lost trying to find his way back to his hotel. A name check revealed he had an outstanding warrant out of DuPage County for a drunken driving charge, police said.

Burger King employees told police Greer had not done anything wrong but he was acting suspicious, police said. Greer was arrested and taken into custody pending extradition to DuPage County.

Drunken driving alleged
A Cicero man faces two felony drunken driving charges after police pulled him over near the intersection of Gunderson Avenue and 16th Street at about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 2, police said.

A patrol officer saw Martin Diaz, 36, of the 1800 block of South Central Avenue, driving 5 mph in 25 mph zone and swerving between lanes.

Diaz also ran through a red light and a stop sign, police said.

Diaz failed field sobriety tests, according to police. He submitted to a breathalyzer, which revealed his blood alcohol level was 0.281, police said.

Diaz was charged with two counts of felony driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of improper lane usage, and one count each of disobeying a stop sign and driving without a license.

Woman faces theft charge
Veronica Oviedo, 35, of Chicago was charged with retail theft after employees at Marshalls, 7163 W. Cermak Road, witnessed Oviedo put items into her purse and attempt to leave the store without paying for them at about 3 p.m. Sept. 2, police said.

Police recovered two bottles of perfume and five items of women’s clothing, totaling $123.

Police make drug bust
Police recovered 98 grams of cocaine from a Berwyn man’s home in the 6200 block of West 26th Street, while executing a search warrant at about 4:30 p.m. Sept. 2, police said.

With the help of a K-9 unit, police found 2.2 grams of marijuana, paraphernalia, $3,000 in cash, and three bags containing an off-white chunky substance, in the home of Angelo C. Flores, 37.
Tests later revealed the bags contained 98 grams of cocaine, police said.

Flores was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and possession with intent to deliver.

Police said the arrest was the result of an investigation by the Berwyn Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff’s office.
