Jeffrey Chappa, 33, of Berwyn has been charged with three counts of theft from a motor vehicle, according to Riverside police.
There is a possibility of at least one other suspect, according to police.
Chappa was arrested just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, after police traced a stolen phone in his possession to a street in Riverside.
Police used the GPS tracker on the phone to find the Chappa. The phone, stolen from a resident’s car, had a child tracker program that allows parents to locate their children.
Police tracked Chappa on the victim’s home computer.
Chappa is alleged to have committed at least nine car burglaries, police said.
The burglaries took place in Loudon, Bartram, Northwood, Michaux, Northgate, Kent, and Longcommon roads. Additional car burglaries are still being discovered and reported.
