Battery alleged
A man was charged with battery after being arrested at 1:55 p.m. Oct. 18.

Victor Reyes, 21, of the 4800 block of W. 23rd Street, Cicero was charged with assault, battery and resisting a police officer in the 6500 block of West Cermak Road, police said.

Reyes attempted to enter Wings Firehouse, 6535 Cermak Road, when he was stopped by a security officer who did not let him enter because he suspected Reyes was intoxicated, police said.

Reyes began screaming and poked a police officer in the forehead with his index finger, according to police. Officers attempted to arrest Reyes when he began to strike an officer in the chest and arms with his elbows, police said.

Reyes was taken to the hospital for observation and then released into the custody of the Berwyn Police Department, police said.

Garage door vandalized
A Berwyn resident was charged with criminal defacement of property after allegedly spray-painting a garage door at 12:45 a.m. Oct. 19 in the 1600 block of South Wenonah Avenue, police said.

Jesse Manrique, 18, of the 2100 block of South Wenonah Avenue was charged with criminal defacement of property, police said.

Officers responded to the area after a report that someone had been spray painting graffiti and found Manrique running down the alley, police said.

Manrique told officers he was running home because his bicycle broke, according to police. Officers said they saw gold colored spray paint that was still wet on both his hands.

Man shot in alley
A man was shot in an alley behind a Berwyn grocery store at about 8:30 a.m. Oct. 19 in the 6400 block of 16th Street.

Officers arrived to the report of shots fired. As they began their investigation, Berwyn dispatch told officers there may be a victim from the incident at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, police said.

Officers went to the hospital and discovered a victim was brought to the hospital by three friends.

The friends told police they had received a call from the victim, where he said he had been shot and needed to be taken to the hospital, police said.

The three men drove to the alley on 16th Street and found the man shot and laying on the ground injured, police said.

The victim told police he saw a man pull a gun from his waist and fire six to seven shots, with one of the shots hitting the victim in the leg, according to police. He told police he would not be able to identify the gunman, and police have no one in custody for the incident.

Prostitution alleged
Two women were charged with prostitution after an undercover sting by the Berwyn Police Department Oct. 22.

Officers investigated an ongoing complaint against a reference of people servicing the Berwyn area on the classified advertising site Craigslist.

Officers called a number listed on the advertisement and set up an appointment. The woman responded it would cost $250 an hour, police said. The woman told officers on the phone she was picking up a friend from the airport and would bring her over for another $250, police said.

The officer set up a meeting that night with the women in Berwyn, according to police.

The two women, Ashley Carson, 27, of Mundelein, and Nicolette Sylvia, 24, of Boston were charged with prostitution. Sylvia also had a warrant for another prostitution arrest from the Cook County Sheriff’s Department, police added.
