Village Vocal Chords (VVC) won its 17th International Championship Nov. 14 in Providence, Rhode Island during Harmony, Inc.'s International Contest & Competition.
VVC, under the direction of Jeanne O’Connor of Winfield, travel throughout the Chicago area to perform.
The group has competed in 28 international contests, winning three third place medals, three second place medals, and 17 first place medals.
Founded in 1959, Harmony Inc. is a non-profit international organization of women who sing four-part harmony in the barbershop style. Consisting of choruses and quartets, its primary objective is the education of its members and the public in the art of this a cappella style of singing.
Women of all ages are invited to attend a weekly rehearsal, held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 47th Street and Brainard Avenue, La Grange.
