• The Western Springs Garden Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at the First Congregational Church Plymouth Hall, 1106 Chestnut St., Western Springs. Join them for a program called “Hardy Bulbs for Spring” with Laury Lewis. His presentation will cover design, bulb selection, planting, maintenance, animal resistant bulbs as well as interesting color, size and shape selection.
• The Salt Creek Branch of American Association of University Women will hold its annual book sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6, at Presbyterian Church of Western Springs, 5250 Wolf Road. Items for sale include books, CDs, DVDs and video tapes. Proceeds from the book sale are used for scholarships the Branch offers to women who are returning to college.
• The Proksa Park Garden Club and the Proksa Park District are sponsoring a special program at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the Proksa Park Community Room, 3001 S. Wisconsin St., Berwyn. The winners of the Planting Pride in Berwyn contest will be presented. Refreshments will be served.
• Come dine with the animals at a “green” event in The Pavillions at the Brookfield Zoo from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26.
