A story published last week by Suburban Life Publications incorrectly stated that Sunrise Chevrolet in Glendale Heights was among the dealerships that General Motors was trying to close.
In a letter sent recently to Sunrise customers, General Manager Dan Kurtz said: "As you may have recently heard, General Motors has told 1,124 GM dealerships across the country that their GM franchise agreements likely won’t be extended past October 2010. It is with great pleasure to tell you, our customer, that Sunrise Chevrolet did not receive a letter and we will be your Chevrolet dealer for now and into the future. In fact, our parent company, Garber Management Group, owns 10 different GM franchises across Illinois, Florida and Michigan, and not one store received a letter from GM. While this news has relieved our employees and families, we want to pass along our sadness and compassion to several local Chicagoland GM dealers who received the letter on May 15, 2009. While they have been our competitors, we are all part of the GM team. They are our peers and our friends, and we wish them well."
