Picture a better community
by helping with food drive
What does it take to help someone?
What does it take to provide food to someone who hasn’t enough? What does it take to restock the shelves of local food pantries? Answer: It takes a village.
The Rotary Club of Carol Stream, in the spirit of community service, will coordinate the efforts of residents, businesses, clubs, organizations, Scouts and schools in the village of Carol Stream in a communitywide food drive.
The communitywide food drive will take place noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at 480 N. Kuhn Road, Carol Stream, but we need your help. Picture the map of Carol Stream with its neighborhoods sprawling from east to west and north to south.
Picture, in those neighborhoods, a food drive spinning through the homes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10. Now picture all those precious food items being collected at a central site on Kuhn Road.
Are you in that “picture”?
If you would like to be a part of this effort — the effort of this community — come to a planning meeting and participate at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the Holiday Inn/Carol Stream. We will meet with those interested in being a part of the effort and arm them with the tools they need. An informational flier with details can be found on carolstreamrotary.com or call (630) 918-9008 for more information.
What does it take? It takes someone — like you — to care. Picture a village full of caring people, and you will see the true spirit of community at its best.
